We never see it, we never upload it, and we have no server-side database of your data. When you search for food or scan a barcode, your query goes to the Open Food Facts public database. 1. About This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ZiBa Entertainment (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with PlateSimple (“the App”), a calorie and macro tracking app available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

By downloading or using PlateSimple, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

3. What Data Is Handled & Where It Lives

3.1 Data You Log — Stored Only on Your Device

Everything you enter into PlateSimple is saved locally on your device only, using Android’s SharedPreferences and equivalent local storage on iOS. This includes:

ZiBa Entertainment has no server, no database, and no access to any of this data. It exists only on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data in your device settings.

3.2 Food Search & Barcode Scanning — Open Food Facts

When you search for food by name or scan a barcode, PlateSimple sends your search query or the barcode number to the Open Food Facts public API (openfoodfacts.org) to retrieve nutritional information. This requires an internet connection.

3.3 Data Collected by Third-Party Services

PlateSimple integrates the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

4. How Data Is Used

ZiBa Entertainment uses data only for the following limited purposes:

5. Advertising & Google AdMob

The free version of PlateSimple is supported by advertising served by Google AdMob. Two ad formats are used:

AdMob may use your Advertising ID to show personalised ads. You can opt out at any time:

Opting out reduces personalisation but does not remove ads from the free version. Subscribing to Premium removes all ads entirely.

Google AdMob is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

6. Premium Subscriptions

PlateSimple offers a Premium subscription that removes all ads and unlocks weekly nutrition insights. Subscriptions are billed by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS) on a monthly or yearly basis.

7. App Permissions

PlateSimple does not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, health data, or any other sensitive system resources.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

Because all your food logs, goals, and settings live only on your device, you are in complete control:

ZiBa Entertainment holds no copy of your data and therefore has nothing to delete on our end in response to an erasure request. The above actions fully satisfy such a request.

Data held by third-party services (AdMob, Open Food Facts) is subject to their own retention policies.

9. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

PlateSimple is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has been using PlateSimple, please contact us at info@zibaentertainment.com and we will assist appropriately.

In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), AdMob is configured to serve non-personalised ads in contexts where child-directed treatment may apply.

10. Your Rights Under GDPR (EU / EEA Users)

If you are in the EU or EEA, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants you rights over your personal data. Because all your PlateSimple data is stored locally on your device, you have direct control over it already. Here is how each right applies:

Legal basis for processing (GDPR Article 6): The transmission of food search queries to Open Food Facts is necessary to fulfil the core function you requested (contractual necessity, Art. 6(1)(b)). Receiving a subscription confirmation token is likewise based on contractual necessity. For AdMob personalised advertising, Google relies on consent as expressed through your device advertising preferences.

11. International Data Transfers

ZiBa Entertainment is based in the Netherlands (EU). Open Food Facts, Google AdMob, and the app store billing services may process data outside the EEA, including in the United States. Google and Apple rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other approved mechanisms. Open Food Facts is a French non-profit; see their privacy policy for details on their data transfers.

12. Security

Because PlateSimple does not transmit your food logs or personal data to any server, the security of that information depends on your device. Your data lives in the App’s sandboxed local storage, inaccessible to other apps under normal conditions. We recommend keeping your device up to date and using a screen lock.

Queries to the Open Food Facts API are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

13. Not Nutrition or Medical Advice

PlateSimple is a personal logging and tracking tool. Nutritional values are sourced from the Open Food Facts community database and may not always be complete or accurate. The App does not provide personalised nutrition or medical advice. For dietary guidance, consult a qualified dietitian or healthcare professional.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page. The latest version will always be available at this URL and linked from the App’s store listings. Continued use of PlateSimple after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
